Touchscreen is a framework for developing interactive kiosk displays. Touchscreen powers the display screen used outside the Open Source Lab's server room. We use a 42" LCD flat screen, with a 17" touchscreen display to control it.

  • Well Known Technologies - Screens are built using HTML, CSS, and Javascript. Any layout that can be built with these technologies can be used in a screen.
  • Plugin System - Screens and animations are added to the display via plugins.
  • Controller API - Touchscreen uses a REST API allowing commands to be sent to the display screen.

Touchscreen is open source

An open source license means that Touchscreen is freely distributed and supported by its community. Community contributions are the air in Touchscreen's lungs. So if you find Touchscreen useful, please get involved! There are plenty of ways to get involved and there are always tasks for all experience levels.

Touchscreen is built with the open source frameworks JQuery and Django.
